FAQs

(Frequently Asked Questions)

How much is a custom cake topper?

Price is based upon size, number of pieces within the cake topper, amount of detail, and deadline. Prices will vary widely. For example, a basic two person wedding cake topper, approximately 5 inches tall on a clay base, is $75 + shipping. That includes the details you provide on hair color style and wedding attire so that the figurine represents the wedding couple. Any extra accessories, pets, etc. will be quoted accordingly. Please use the "Quote Request" form on this website to get a free quote for your cake topper idea.

How long will it take for my cake topper to be created?

It all depends upon the size and detail of the piece and how many orders I am currently working on. Please contact me at least three weeks prior to your event to allow ample time for creation and shipping. I will give you a time estimate when I respond to your Quote Request.

Can I see a photo of my cake topper before you cure it in case I want to make changes?

No, unfortunately not. Many times custom colors are blended just for your piece and clays are pressed together so smoothly they cannot be pulled apart for revisions. Liquid clay is added to certain pieces to insure the strength of delicate areas. Many hours will have been put into the design and sculpting of your custom cake topper. This is calculated into the cost. Because of these things, I cannot simply roll the clay back together and start new. However, I do take photos of your cake topper once it is complete will e-mail them to you when your package has shipped.

What is polymer clay?

It is a sculptable material based on the polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It usually contains no clay minerals, and is only called "clay" because its texture and working properties resemble those of mineral clay. It is soft and pliable when raw, and becomes hard when cured. Items sculpted out of polymer clay are waterproof and fade-resistant. It is cured at a low oven temperature and afterwards can be sanded, re-baked and even painted.

What forms of payment do you accept and how do I pay for it?

I only accept payment through PayPal. It is a widely used, trusted online service. I will never be given your credit card number or bank account information. It is safely and securely processed from your account to mine and I am simply notified once the transaction has been processed. How will you ship my cake topper?

Your cake topper will be packed securely in tissue paper and bubble wrap. The box will contain lots of soft packing materials to keep your piece safe. I use the United States Postal Service for shipping. The majority of the time, First Class mail is used. Tracking information will be provided via PayPal once the package is shipped. If you need an item by a specific deadline, let me know and I can ship using priority or express mail and will quote you on what those costs will be.

I recycle packaging whenever possible to help keep costs down. Clean reusable boxes and packing materials may be used for your shipment. I encourage you to reuse those items as well.

My shipping costs reflect the packaging expenses as well as postage and insurance, if applicable. Any cake topper that is $50 or more will automatically be insured.

I ship to the address you provide PayPal so please let me know at time of purchase if it needs to be shipped elsewhere.

Do you ship internationally?

International shipping is available. However, please note that I will only ship via USPS Priority Mail International. This provides the quickest, cost-effective method that includes tracking and insurance. Customer is responsible for any customs fees, if any, upon receipt.

Are the cake toppers breakable? What do I do if it breaks?

Yes, the cake toppers are breakable. They are not to be used as toys for children. If a piece breaks, use a clear super glue to repair the item. You may have to apply light pressure for several minutes to ensure the pieces adhere correctly. Shipping it back to me for repair only risks further damaging your cake topper. Please note that insurance is automatically purchased for any cake topper valued at $50 or more. With insurance, you may file a claim with the United States Postal Service for missing or broken shipments.
